Roofs --> Recovery --> BUR
A Built-up Roof (BUR) is an outer covering of a comparatively flat roof, consisting of several layers of saturated felt. As laid, each layer is mopped with hot tar or asphalt. The top layer is finished with a mineral or rock covering. When these systems fail, the primary indication is isolated leaks. Usually at this point, the roof surface is in sound condition and one of several Sealoflex® Systems can be used to recover the roof with a high quality, flexible, waterproofing membrane. This also offers the owner the opportunity to have a "cool roof" by choosing white as the roof color. Once the Sealoflex® System has been successfully applied and a scheduled maintenance program is followed, the roof can have indefinite life.
- Gravel Roof Recovery - GRR
Recovery of gravel roofs present a challenge that Sealoflex® Waterproofing Systems solve simply, cost effectively and dependably. There is no need to remove aged surface materials. Instead, GRR Flood Coat, a light weight rubber based filler, adheres to the existing surface, creating a uniform base for the Sealoflex® Waterproofing System. The result is a tough, monolithic membrane providing ultimate protection from the elements. Full tear-off and removal of the existing gravel roof is not required, thereby not exposing the interior to the elements during the installation of the Sealoflex® GRR System.
Advantages:
• The most cost-effective solution to recovering a deteriorating gravel roof;
• Fully adheres to existing gravel roof substrates;
• Incorporates parapets, gutters and other features creating a monolithic system;
• Excellent wind uplift resistance;
• No tear-off required;
• With periodic maintenance, these roofs will remain durable and functional indefinitely.
