Sealoflex CT Pond Grade
Sealoflex CT™ is a solvent borne, single component coating. It is a tough flexible, highly elastic material which displays good UV and ponding water resistance. Sealoflex CT™ is used in conjunction with Sealoflex polyester reinforcing fabric to form a fully adhered, monolithc, single ply membrane for roofs and walls.
Uses
Sealoflex CT™ is used:
- As flat or low sloped roof waterproofing
- For flashings & parapet walls
- For sealing of metal roofs, over fasteners, seams &
penetration flashings
- As a waterproof liner for box gutters
- As a waterproof underlayment for tiled decks and plaza
decks
- As a waterproof underlayment for tiled shower, floors
and walls
- As a waterproof liner for fountains and planters
- As a below grade waterproofer for positive pressure
heads
- As a vapor barrier
- As a waterproof liner for ponds using Sealoflex CT Pond
Grade™
Advantages
Sealoflex CT™ displays the following advantages:
- Ultraviolet and Ozone resistance
- Acid and alkali resistance
- Highly elastic
- Fast curing and may be applied at low temperatures
- Excellent low temperature flexibility
- Adheres to almost any roof or wall substrate including
stucco, concrete, metal, brick, wood, asphalt, TPO, PVC
and as a coating over EPDM.
- Excellent mildew and algae resistance
- Dade County, Florida approved
Surface Preparation
No priming is necessary on unpainted wooden surfaces. All non-ferrous metals must be primed with Metal Etch Primer™. Unprotected iron or steel must be primed with Rust X-2020™ followed by Metal Etch Primer™. New painted metal, flashings, copings and accessories must be primed with Metal Etch Primer™.
Concrete and Masonry: Above grade, prime with a coat of Sealobond Primer WB&trade or Dampseal 101™. Allow to dry thoroughly before continuing with the Sealoflex CT™ System. Below grade or on grade concrete and cellular lightweight concrete, prime with Sealoment Plus™ and/or Dampseal 101™.
Bituminous or asphalt surfaces, apply 1 coat of waterbased Sealoflex Pink®
Application
Apply a moderate “base coat” of Sealoflex CT Pink ™ to the prepared area and imbed the Sealoflex Fabric™ directly into the wet coating, using a clean dry brush to firmly imbed the fabric. Make sure no bubbles or wrinkles occur in the fabric. Overlap of adjacent runs of fabric must be 3”. Allow to dry until the fabric is firmly adhered in position. Follow with a “saturation coat” of Sealoflex CT Pink™ to fully saturate the fabric from above. Allow to dry. When the entire area has been treated in this way, apply 2 coats of Sealoflex CT Top™ at the rate of 70 sq.ft./gal. (total for both coats).
Note: Joints in plywood and insulation board substrates must be treated with a 6” wide strip of Sealoflex Fabric™ and Sealoflex CT Pink™ System over the entire area. When applying the system over smooth horizontal surfaces Sealoflex Deck Fabric™ can be used. A single coat of Sealoflex CT Pink™ is applied over the entire surface and is allowed to dry. Then Sealoflex Deck Fabric™ is laid out over the prepared area unrolling the fabric a section at a time. Apply the Sealoflex CT Pink™ from above using a 3/4” nap roller or spray equipment. When applying by spray, it is essential to back roll immediately after spraying to ensure that the fabric is properly embedded into the wet Sealoflex CT Pink™. When the entire area has been treated in this way, apply 2 coats of Sealoflex CT Top™ at the rate of 70 sq.ft./gal. (total for both coats).
Important Notes:
*Do not use Sealoflex Deck Fabric™ over granular or rough surfaces. Use Sealoflex regular fabric for these applications.
*Do not use Sealoflex Deck Fabric with Sealoflex CT.
*If applying the full fabric Sealoflex reinforced system on EPDM roof sheeting, prepare the surface as follows: apply EPDM Primer™, allow to dry. Apply a generous coat of Sealoflex Pink® (waterbased) and allow to dry. The surface is now ready to accept the full Sealoflex CT™ system.
*Prior to application of each coat of CT™, always ensure that surface is completely dry.
*The fully reinforced Sealoflex CT™ System is resistant to ponding water. Do not use in ponded areas without Sealoflex reinforcing fabric.
Cleaning
Sealoflex CT™ can be dissolved with Quickclean™, and then rinsed with water.
Precautions
Read the MSDS on Sealoflex CT™ carefully before application. Avoid contact with eyes and skin. If eyes become contaminated flush with water for at least 15 minutes. If ingested do not induce vomiting and seek medical attention immediately. Use only in well ventilated areas and avoid inhaling vapors, or static electricity contact with sparks, open flame, motors and heat as Sealoflex CT™ is FLAMMABLE.
Fish and Aquatic Ponds
Follow all surface preparation, priming and application instructions as described above. The final 2 coats of Sealoflex CT must be Sealoflex CT Pond Grade™. Do not use Sealoflex CT Top™ for this application.
Important Notes
CAUTION!
If there is an impermeable waterproof layer within or below the concrete surface, contact Sealoflex Technical Department for Application Requirements.
DO NOT USE Sealoflex CT with Sealoflex Deck Fabric.
