High Performance Low Friction Chemical Resistant Coating
Grease Shield™ is a solvent borne, dual component, polyurethane based coating. It is a strong flexible material that displays exceptionally good resistance to Ultraviolet, solvent and chemical attack. Its low friction surface gives good resistance to marring, surface deterioration and micro-organic growth.
Uses
Grease Shield™ is used:
• On restaurant and cafeteria roofs to protect roofing membranes from attack by animal fats
• As a premium quality coating for metal roofs to create high gloss color with outstanding performance
• On floor and wall systems to prevent attack by oils, fats, blood
• As corrosion protection on metals
• As a release coating on concrete forms
• As a liner to process equipment to facilitate easy cleaning
• As a clear protective layer to highly polished metal such as brass or copper to maintain the aesthetic appearance and protection
• As a clear protective coating to prevent dirt adhering to EIF Systems facilitating easy cleaning
Advantages
Grease Shield™ displays the following advantages:
• Outstanding Ultraviolet and Ozone resistance
• Excellent chemical and solvent resistance
• Fast curing and may be applied at low temperatures
• Very low surface friction for easy dirt or contamination removal
• Long lasting high gloss finish
• Excellent flexibility and toughness
• Easy to clean, mar resistant surface, also graffiti resistant
• Algae and mildew resistant
Mixing
Pour the entire contents of Grease Shield™ component B into the can containing component A. Mix thoroughly using a slow speed 1/2” drill and paint paddle. Be sure not to entrap air during the mixing process as this may cause bubbles and consequently pinholes in the coating.
Surface Preparation
Surfaces must be dry and free of dust, loosely adhering particles, oil or grease.
Priming
No priming is necessary on unpainted wooden surfaces, weathered galvanized steel and nonferrous metal. Unprotected iron or steel must be primed with Rust-X 2020™ followed by Sealoflex Metal Etch Primer™. Concrete and masonry: Above grade no priming necessary. On grade concrete, prime with Sealoment Plus™.
Application
Apply a moderate coat of Grease Shield™ to the prepared area using brush, roller or conventional spray equipment (about 250 square ft. per gal.). Allow application to dry. If a second coat is required, allow the first coat to cure approximately 30 minutes.
Curing
Grease Shield™ will develop its full solvent and chemical resistance and physical characteristics in 7 days.
Cleaning
Grease Shield™ can be dissolved with Sealoflex Quickclean™, and then rinsed with water. This is only possible up to 24 hours after application. After this time it will become progressively more difficult to dissolve Grease Shield™ as it cures.
Precautions
Read the MSDS sheet on Grease Shield™ carefully before application. Avoid contact with eyes and skin. If eyes become contaminated flush with water for at least 15 minutes. If ingested, do not induce vomiting. Seek medical attention immediately. Use only in a ventilated area and avoid inhaling vapors. Use NIOSH approved respirators. Avoid contact with sparks, open flame, motors and heat as Grease Shield™ is FLAMMABLE.
